My Study in Denmark

I arrived Denmark on the 28th of August 2009 (Friday afternoon) for a postgraduate study in Wind Power Systems under the programme COP 15 scholarship. As I set my feet on the soil of Denmark, I noticed that the environment is free - not as polluted as in some other developed countries that I have been to. This is a big plus to Denmark.

I was given a very good reception. I found out also that though the people have their own language (Danish), you (as a visitor) will not have a problem finding your way or getting to your destination. You will always see people who understand your language. For me, the language I use is English and I guess if you come in with another foreign language, that is global, you will as well see someone that understands the language and is ready to assist you.

I also discovered immediately that living is a bit more expensive in Denmark compared to contemporary countries. But it appears as time goes on, a visitor will find out how to save cost like the Danish people. One way to save cost is to get a bicycle. So if you want to come to Denmark to study and you do not know how to ride a bike, you better learn before coming. It will be an invaluable investment for you.

On the first of September (four days after I arrived), the formalities of the COP 15 programme was conducted, by way of reception of the participants, in Copenhagen – the capital of Denmark. The ministers for Development Cooperation, and Science, Technology and Innovation with the staff of CIRIUS, the press and several countries‘ embassies' representatives were present at the reception. It was a great occasion. To cap up the reception, we were shown round some of the beautiful sights of the city of Copenhagen in a guided tour.

The study programme promises to be great since it has been structured to be practical oriented with the involvement of leading industries specialized in products or operations related to the environment.

I have already started classes and I look forward to getting links to industries with the help of my university, as spelt out in the objectives of the COP 15 programme. Thank you for reading my blog and please make environment your friend - do not degrade the environment.
