As the title speaks, MyDenmarkTV is a project I started almost 5 months ago. I have always wanted to reach out to other foreigners who just arrived to Denmark or about to come to Denmark ... with so many uncertainties and anxieties on the way.
Everyone knows it is not easy to start in a new country from the scratch. Well, maybe for the people who are used to traveling and relocating all the time it is a little bit easier, but still it takes some time even for more experienced people to get accustomed to the new routines, new culture, new people and so on.
I started the MyDenmarkTV, which a web TV show about Denmark, because of the several reasons:
1) I wanted to share my experience by helping other people settle down as smoothly as possible. I love to help people, as cheesy as it may sound. I also wanted to let other foreigners (hosts) share their own experience about living in Denmark. The most important part is to adopt an authentic approach of presenting information. No biased, no garbage ... real things which we really experience in Denmark. We are the face of you (so to speak).
2) I enjoy the creative process of taking ideas and convert into an enjoyable experience i.e. an idea that came to my mind on the way home on the bus/in the shower and developing this idea into something that can benefit to other people. In this case it is a video that has a narrative and an altruistic purpose to help new arrivals to settle down.
3) I love making videos and I love the online world. I love to see how things develop so quickly on the Internet. The process of creating a TV show in the traditional format would have been unthinkable and too costly just some years back. But now with a simple plan and inexpensive equipment, one can reach out thousands and even millions of viewers (right now our show is viewed in 90 countries).
Of course, one of the challenges has always been to assemble a good team, a group of people, who would be interested in sharing their own experience via the web-based TV show. But sure enough in 3 month time we got a team, each of whom has been in Denmark for quite some time now and we are all enjoying the process of sharing and presenting information in an interesting and fun way.
Right now we have produced 21 Episodes (Episode 21 is coming out tomorrow) and so far we have provided some valuable content (as many people say so). If you want to come to Denmark or learn about the country, I encourage you to watch the show. It is comes out weekly and I am sure you will enjoy the information, the presenters and many other things we are so much proud about.
Stay tuned,
Vladimir
