This is going to be my first blog post in a row of many, so I hope somebody will find the information here useful and interesting.
First of all I must say that I am very grateful for the opportunity provided by the Danish government to be able to receive the COP scholarship and pursue master's degree in Roskilde University. I had the opportunity to meet all the other COP scholarship receivers in the reception on September 1st and it was really a wonderful day - so thank you to the organizers and all the people, including ministers Ulla Tørnæs and Helge Sander, for the lovely reception and their time to meet us all!
The first week in university has also passed by, as quickly as it always does and it has been full with positive experiences. It is great to see that the course will be attended by people from all over the world - from China to Brazil and India to USA, and more. For me, coming from Latvia, this is not just an opportunity to meet great people, but also the way to get to know new cultures. I do think that in this way we are being able to get so much more out of the studies - it isn't just the fact that we each have our own various educational backgrounds but also the different approaches to solving the problems will help to see what one might not be able to see being alone.
We have also started to group forming process - here in Roskilde University much of the work, including the semester projects is done working in groups, which is a great way to get to know each other and bounce the ideas at somebody else to get better results. So far there are so many ideas in the air that its almost difficult to pick one but I am confident that all of us will get exciting topics to work with!
In the meanwhile, rain clouds seem to have reached Denmark and the raindrops keep falling. But I am looking forward to an exciting study year and a beautiful fall in Denmark:)
